Dear brother and sister- As Willard had undertook to write to you I
thought that I would finish it for I don't like to send white paper. I
am well at present. I saw Willard yesterday and he wished me to finish

this letter and send it by Mr. Edwards. He saw the letter that I sent
to father and mother and he thought that he would write a long letter to
you but he got tired of it and asked me to finish it. It is the hardest
work for him to get to writing that I ever saw. I have to almost scold

him to get him to write at all. He says that he can't think what he
wants to write. When he is out in the lot to work he can think of
enough to write and when he sits down to write he can't think of a word.
Poor feller. I don't hardly now what to write but will give you
something to read if not interesting. Regards to Mr. Lasky's folks. I
don't know as you have heard from them yet. They are in White Water,
about 30 miles from me. I saw a man that was acquainted with them and
he said that they had written a great many times to York State and could
get no answer and they was glad to hear from some of you. I am going to
Fort Atkinson as soon as I get my wheat in and shall stop to see them.
Give my respects to Ebenezer Johnson and I should like to hear from him.
Tell Maria that they must write and not wait for us for we have a great

many to write to. This makes 8 letters that I have written since I
arrived in this country and if I should write to them all it would take
me all the time. I can't get any time to write but nights and Sundays.

James, I want to hear from you and Philena and all the rest of the
folks. I should like to know if all the folks below have gone to the
west that talked of going and when you write give me the whole news.
Give my respects to all of the pretty girls and tell them that I am
destitute of a woman yet, which is very much needed here. Nice girls is

scarce here. There is but a few of mother's graciousness. Jesse Acly,

I should like to know how you got along amaking butter and the other
thing. Elbert Acly
