Former longtime Moclips resident Edna Matsen of Aberdeen died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in the Pacific Care Center at Hoquiam. She was 87.
Mrs. Matsen was born Dec. 19, 1914, at Tacoma to Bud and Bertha Ackley. She attended school in Olympia, then moved to Moclips when she was 15 and attended high school there.
On April 2, 1932, she married Max Matsen in Olympia. They lived in Moclips until moving to Central Park in 1985. He died in 1989.
Mrs. Matsen and her husband had owned and operated Max's Restaurant in Moclips. She then worked for Jennie Sims at her Ocean Shores restaurant.
Mrs. Matsen was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.
She enjoyed reading.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly J. Harris of Palm Springs, Calif.; a son, Marvin of Seattle; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Hoquiam's Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary of Hoquiam.
