Salmon was a descendant of Robert Day who was born on 31 July 1604 in Kilburn, Yorkshire, England and who came to this country in Apr., 1634 on the ship "Elizabeth". Robert was made a freeman in 1635. In about 1637 he became an original settler of Hartford, Conn.
