The beautiful bungalow of Mr and Mrs Eldon Ackley, in Westfield, was destroyed by fire at 5 o'clock last Friday morning with a loss of about $5,000.
Mr and Mrs Ackley were away at the time, and the cause of the fire is a mystery. The blaze was discovered by Mr Ackley's father who resides next door. About 5 o'clock he observed the rear porch in flames which quickly spread to the interior. When the firemen arrived, the blaze had gained great headway and it was impossible to save any of the furniture or other contents.
The entire interior of the house was destroyed, together with all clothing and other effects of Mr and Mrs Ackley. The loss is partly covered by insurance. Eldon Horace Ackley, 68, proprietor of a hunting and fishing supply store in Westfield ..died Sunday, January 10, 1960, He was born in Farmington Township July 21, 1891, the son of Frank and Nina Seaman Ackley A resident of Westfield, Mr. Ackley was active in Rt 49ers Association, a highway, improve ment group. He is survived by his widow. Ina Hunt Ackley, two daughters, Mrs Frank Manning and Mrs Cut lit of Westfield;. one sister, Mrs. Ruth Mohnkcrn of Oil City, a bro ther George of Westfield; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and Nephews. Funeral will be held at the family home Thursday afternoon at 2:30. The Rev. C. Lacy VanNor man and the Rev Joseph Leich liter officiating. Burial will be in Krusen Cemetery.

He was proprietor of Ackley & Son, hunting and fishing supply store here. Born in Farmington Township, July 23, 1891, he was the son of Frank A. and Nina (Seaman) Ackley. He was married to the former Ina Alberta Hunt. Mr. Ackley came to Westfield from Brookfield with his parents at the age of 15 years. He was associated with his father in the F.A. Ackley & Son Mill, a feed mill and building supplies store, on North St. In 1934 Mr. Ackley moved to the Main St. location to operate a gas station and sporting goods store, which he continued under the name Ackley & Son until the time of his death. Mr. Ackley was active in the Rt. 49ers Association, a group interested in road improvement which he helped organize. He was also active in the Westfield Rod & Gun Club, another organization of which he was one of the founders. Mr. Ackley is survived by his wife, and two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Manning and Mrs. Sibyl Ann Cutlip, both of Westfield; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Mohnkern, Oil City, Pa., a brother, George Ackley, Westfield; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the family residence with the Rev. Joseph Leichliter and the Rev. C. Lacy VanNorman officiating. Burial was in Krusen Cemetery, Westfield. Arrangements were by Simmons-Piper Funeral Home.

Ina A Ackley, age 90, of West field, died on Thursday, May 13, 1982, at the Green Home in Wellsboro. She was born Dec. 21, 1891 in Brookfield Township, the daughter of Lester B. and Rosetta Moore Hunt. She was a member of the Westfield United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Philathea Class of Westfield. She is survived by: daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Frank Manning, Westfield, Sibyl Ann and William Weinhauer, Wellsville, N.Y.; sister, Mrs. Rosetta Mclnroy, Westfield, brother, Lester Hunt, Westfield; three grandsons, two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Sunday at the Kenyon Funeral Home in Westfield with the Rev Paul Zelinka officiating, burial Krusen Cemetery, Westfield.
