She was born on April 18, 1912, in Jersey City, New Jersey, the daughter of Walter and Jenny (Hansen) Miller. Lucile graduated from high school in New York in 1930. She received her Licensed Practical Nurses Certificate from St. Johnâ€™s in Springfield in the late 1950â€™s and later worked for the Aurora Hospital and Dr. Hamilton. Lucile was proud to be a Rosie the Riveter during WWII, a curtural icon of the United States, representing the American women who worked in factories during wartime. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Aurora. On October 5, 1946, she married Earl Ackley Jr., in Long Beach, California. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1999. Her parents, three sons, Rick, Larry and Philip Allen, daughter, Janice Lesko, granddaughter, Amy Allen and three sisters, Norma Fechter, Dorothea McQuade and Edna Gengerke, also preceded her in death. Those surviving her include: three sons, Gary Allen and his wife, Judi, of Aurora, Earl Ackley III and his wife, Sylvia, of Eldorado Springs, Missouri, and Terry Ackley of Los Angeles, California; stepson, Gene Ackley and his wife, Sue, of St. Louis; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
