She was born in Franklin on July 15, 1922, the fifth child and only daughter to Dewitt and Eunice (Edwards) Ackley. She attended Franklin School.

On Feb. 15, 1941, she married her neighborhood sweetheart Kenneth A. Jordan. She was a homemaker/gardener working alongside her husband for 37 years on a 60 head dairy farm in Franklin until 1988, when they sold their farm and retired.

She was an Eastern Star member. She enjoyed antiques, lawn sales, and babysitting young children in her retirement. Her beloved companion in her final years was her dog, Tara.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Alfred) Shaver Sr. of Maryland, Wayne (Bobbie) Jordan of Franklin, Keith Jordan of Granville; and daughter-in-law, Heidi Jordan of Franklin; her 12 grandchildren, Terry Pochkar, Sherry Bedford, Lori Michaels, Al Shaver Jr., Wayne Jordan Jr., James Jordan, Timothy Jordan, Jason Jordan, Jeffrey Jordan, Robin Basile, Lisa Uzenski and Kimberly Jordan; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years on Oct. 30, 2005; her son, Allan Jordan on Sept. 17, 2010; grandson, Jesse Jordan on March 8, 1997; and great-grandson, Marine Cpl. Nicholas Uzenski on Jan. 11, 2010.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, in the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at A.O Fox Memorial Hospital, officiating. Calling hours will be from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Interment will take place in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin, at a later date.

He was born in Franklin on May 13, 1920, the son of Dwight A. and Marian (Robinson) Jordan.
Ken attended the Blue Schoolhouse in Franklin from first to eighth grade and graduated from Delaware Literary Institute in 1939.
On Feb. 15, 1941, he married Adaline Ackley in Franklin, at which time he ran the family farm with his father. Ken and his father, Dwight, had one of the first combines and contracted with other area farmers in harvesting their crops. He purchased the farm in 1949.
While farming, he subsidized his income by hunting and trapping, as well as selling other commodities, such as cauliflower, maple syrup, eggs, pheasants and other game birds. He also operated a sawmill with his son, Wayne.
He was an avid gardener and especially loved growing vegetables and roses, as well as taxidermy, hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the Franklin Community Bible Church and a 60-year member of the Masons.
He is survived by his wife of 64-plus years, Adaline Jordan, of Oneonta; his children, Sandy (Alfred) Shaver Sr. of Maryland, Wayne (Barbara) Jordan Sr. of Franklin, Allen (Heidi) Jordan of Franklin and Keith Jordan of Granville; his grandchildren, Terry Pochkar, Sherry Bedford, Lori Roseboom, Al Shaver Jr., Wayne Jordan Jr., Jim Jordan, Timothy Jordan, Jeffrey Jordan and Jason Jordan, Robin Basile, Lisa Uzenski and Kimberly Jordan; 21 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Jordan; a sister, Helen Dann; and a grandson, Jesse Jordan.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, in the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, with Allison Jay Bookhout, Catskill Area Hospice Spiritual Care Coordinator, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at which time the family will be in attendance.
