Charles S ACKLEY was born on 15 December 1812 in Hamilton, Madison, New York, United States.5,823,824 He died from asthma on 29 November 1874 at the age of 61 in Davenport, Scott, Iowa, United States.399,823,824 His Obituary appeared in the Watkins Express on 10 December 1874 in Watkins Glen, Schuyler, New York, United States Charles S. Ackley, Esq., of Davenport, Iowa, died on the 26th ult., aged 62 years. He was a son of Rev. Oliver Ackley, a Universalist preacher who settled in Geneva in 1838. He was a brother of A. N. [Anson Nelson] Ackley, of this village. The deceased was at one time proprietor of the American Hotel in Geneva. In 1855 he settled in Davenport where he soon took a prominent part in politics. He held the office of deputy sheriff, and later, was street commissioner in that city. Seven years ago he became proprietor of the Ackley House in Davenport, which under his management became very popular with the traveling public. His death was occasioned by asthma. He was buried in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport, Scott, Iowa, United States.824
