January 22d 1787 Benjamin died on 28 March 1796 at the age of 56 in Castleton, Rutland, Vermont, United States.107 He served in the military Revolutionary War in Connecticut.125,202 He was buried in Old Church Yard, Castleton, Rutland , Vermont.107 Benjamin owned a home in E Hartland CT as did his brothers Joel and Hezekiah.
Benjamin became a member of the E Haddam church 1 Nov 1765.
In jul 1763 he purchased land in E Hartland, CT. and moved there after 1 Sept 1765, but before 1 May 1768.

Mr. Ackley's grandfather, Benjamin Ackley, was a native of Connecticut and served in the commissary department of the American department in the Revolutionary war. He spent the rest of his life at Castleton, Vermont. His wife was Elizabeth Buell

For many years after the settlement of the town, the people carried their dead across the Connectciut River to Haddam for burial. Around the year 1700, a burial procession was not able to cross the river because of bad weather. So they buried their dead in the forest, a little ways back from the cove.

Maj Benjamin ACKLEY Jr and Elizabeth BUELL were married about 1783 in Warren, Litchfield , Connecticut.5,125,202,207 Elizabeth BUELL202 was born on 6 November 1744 in Warren, Litchfield , Connecticut.207 She died on 16 August 1832 at the age of 87 in Darien, Erie , New York.207 died at the home of her son by first marriage Orange Carter She was buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, North Darien, Erie , New York.207 About 1783--the close of the Revolutionary War--Mrs. Carter married, secondly, Major Benjamin Ackley, who took her and her children, together with some of his own, by a former marriage, to Castleton, VT., where her brother, Major Ephraim Buell, had recently settled.
At least three more children were born to her, all of whom lived to be very aged. They were John A., Eleazer, and Orange Ackley. The former was once well known in Cleveland, as was his son, John M. Ackley, late of Brewton, Ala., to whose courtesy the writer is greatly indebted for valuable data concerning the family.
